CHD Family Support and Stabilization specializes in providing a flexible approach to serving families on an outreach basis, utilizing skilled, long-term caseworkers, trained mediators, and a 24-hour on-call support system to provide families with the skills and education to establish healthy and functional relationships and remain intact.

The clients we serve are generally experiencing an array of behavioral, social and emotional issues that greatly affect all family members. Although the characteristics are unique for each family, many have experienced emotional abuse, neglect, substance abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse, ineffective parenting skills, poor communication and conflict resolution, limited finances, and mental health issues.

While many of our families benefit from close work with our caseworkers, others are able to address their needs through a one-time, intensive Mediation and follow-up. Mediation has proven to be an effective strategy for resolving many types of conflicts, promoting permanency for at-risk youth by helping parents and children find solutions to their conflicts through negotiation, often preventing a child's placement in foster care or a residential facility.

We believe children have the right to be free of abuse and neglect and that protection needs to be balanced with family preservation.

We believe children should live in family settings, preferable their own.

We believe all families are different and have unique needs and that families must be willing to engage in services to effect change.

Our Family Support and Stabilization program has provided excellent service to hundreds of families throughout Western Massachusetts. Our mission is to continue to provide portable, flexible services at non-traditional hours to best accommodate the scheduling needs of families.
